At Upprise Wellness and Counselling, we believe that support should meet you where you are—especially in moments of overwhelming darkness. That’s why we are launching Project Lifeline, a community-driven initiative to place tangible, immediate help within arm’s reach for those in crisis.
What is Project Lifeline?
Project Lifeline is a simple, powerful concept: durable, weather-resistant cards, pinned at eye level in public spaces, containing critical, life-saving contact information.
Inspired by a story of hope and connection, these cards are designed to be a physical lifeline. A person can take one for themselves, or share one with a friend, family member, or even a stranger they feel may be struggling. It’s a discreet way to say, “You are not alone, and help is here.”
You’ll See These Cards Around Our Community
We are placing these lifeline cards in strategic locations where they are most likely to be seen and needed, including:
- Parks and Bike Trails
- Bus Stops and Public Transit Hubs
- College and University Campuses
- Community Centers and Libraries
- On public boards and poles in high-foot-traffic areas
Look for them with the simple, empathetic message: “Take Me. I’m Free.”
What’s On the Card?
Each card is a pocket-sized source of hope, featuring:
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (Call or Text)
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- Our Local Crisis Number
- A QR Code linking to a page with further local resources, coping strategies, and information about our services at Upprise Wellness.
- A message of hope and solidarity.
Our Goal: “Take One, Share One”
The mission of Project Lifeline is twofold:
- For the Individual in Crisis: To provide an immediate, private, and accessible resource when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.
- For the Community: To empower every one of us to be a lifeline for others. By taking an extra card and giving it to someone you’re worried about, you become an active part of a caring, supportive community.
How You Can Help Us Spread Hope
This project thrives on community support. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Be a Distribution Point: Do you own or manage a local business, gym, or community space? Contact us to host a small dispenser of lifeline cards.
- Volunteer: Help us assemble kits and place cards around the community.
- Spread the Word: Share this post on social media. Talk about Project Lifeline with your friends and family. Help reduce the stigma around asking for help.
